I'm going to try to be more casual about updating this going forward... I think its good to regularly reflect on the media we consume even if only a little bit.

Jean in rivals is so pretty! Though I am sort of devastated she's not going to come with a maddie/goblin queen skin. I did get excited to see that Maddie is in that new demons and death thing. On that note, I dont really know what to think about recent x-men comics. Sometimes they really irritate me, but other times I think theyre pretty good and that the general negativity surrounidng them is unwarrented. As a whole, I find this era to be underwhelming and even a bit corporate feeling. While reading, even if its well done, I am always acutely aware that this is something that someone in the real world wrote. Sometimes its like you can tell that the work has been affected by corporate medling and such, so its hard to get invested.

As for DC, I think the absolute universe is really good! I honestly havent been keeping up with any mainline dc stuff really, the only comic I've been following has been batgirl because i loveee Cass. Personally, I think that it doesnt exactly matter what the "main universe" is up to anyway, I think that one of the best parts about long-running comic franchises as a medium is the spontaneity, so relying more on seperate universes to tell drastically different stories about the characters just makes sense. Especially in DC where everything gets rebooted to hell and back, the idea of a "main universe" should maybe just die at this point. Or maybe I'm just biased... after I get into reading the current mainline stuff perhaps my stance will change.
