4/2/25

A lot of interesting stuff is happening for me this weeek media-wise, so I'm making my first update on my media log/review page (or whatever I'm calling this lmao)

We finally got information on the new season of Marvel Rivals. MY QUEEN MS EMMA FROST HAS ARRIVED o7

Every time my team needs a tank, I joke that I'll play tank when Emma drops, and now its actually happening. Honestly, I dont really like her design lmao. But seeing it in the gameplay trailer makes me think I can convince myself to warm up too it. Its not as fashionable as I wouldve liked- but she sure is tanking like a tank. I think it suits the gameplay and the rivals artstyle but the costume is just not saying Emma to me. The new skins and maps look great though, as an x-men fan I love to see the krakoan era getting its flowers. (Shogo cameo has me delusional that is Jubilee next, but then I'd have one less fav left to gatekeep lol)

There was also a new Superman teaser which barely revealed anything new but has me hyped nonetheless. I will say that the fortress looks drop-dead gorj. Visually this movie is stunninngggg. That's all I can say for now- but I have so much faith that this movie and the new dcu on a whole will be good.

Moonknight: fist of Konshu #7

As one of like 5 Hank Pym fans in existence and a die-hard Moonknight fan I think this issue was made for me...hooray for mentally ill ppl ^_^. Fr though this issue was really good- I love how Mackay's MK run(s) is full of "funny" shenanigans but still manages to take itself seriously and not be too cringey. 8-ball is so fun, and Moonknight's cult jumping Nadia, fully prepeared to get their asses whooped is funny too. But also, its evident that so much care was put into the more serious character stuff in this issue. Kind of an aside, but I really like Greer's voice actually getting heard by both MK and Hank. I think that sometimes, even in modern superhero comics, female characters within hetero relationships come off as eihter nagging or total doormats, or somehow both. (I genuinely, still to this day, beleive Sue should divorce Reed.) In general, there are so many fictional relationships that I feel like I'm supposed to buy into just "because"... which is actually kind of realistic bc in real life 9 times out of 10 it feels like couples are together for no good reason lmao. But I actually like MK and Tigra together, and I think it really adds to both of thier characters, which is crazy becuase I did NOT want to.

Anyway, I enjoyed how this issue really showed Marc's growth, his conversation with Hank about thier kids was sweet. I love seeing my favs interracting. In general, every new issue of this run makes me fear for what happens when the Moon Knight title is inevitably tossed towards another writer... but for now we're eating good bb!

Absolute Green Lantern #1

As far as the absolute titles go this is one of the least, if not THE least interesting of the first issues. However, its so refreshing to see these characters in new scenarions, that I dont have a single doubt that I'm going to continue reading every single one. I think what this issue suffers from is that we were promised Jo as the protagainist but she's barely in the actual comic at all. I get why they would start the story from Hal's perspective but in general the focus seems kind of split so it was hard to get invested. (And no Jess ToT) Also, probably my least favorite art from any of the absolute titles thus far. I'll probably continue to share my thoughts on each absolute series in the following weeks, but for now i just want to throw out there that as a Martian Manhunter fan, despite loving absolute MM for the artsiness and all that, Its kind of jarring to see a white j'onn in 2025 lmao.
